Spurs Trade Dejounte Murray to Hawks in Blockbuster Deal, per Report

The Hawks are reportedly trading Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks and a future pick swap to the Spurs for All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

More specifically, Atlanta is sending San Antonio its first-round selections in the 2023 via Charlotte, ’25 and ’27 NBA drafts. The pick swap headed to the Spurs will take place in ’26, per Wojnarowski.

Murray will now be paired up with Hawks star Trae Young in Atlanta. He’s currently on a four-year, $64 million contract that’s due to expire 2024.

Rumors surfaced the night before the 2022 NBA draft that the Hawks and the Spurs were reportedly involved in a trade between John Collins and Murray, according to Bleacher Report. Instead, the Hawks keep Collins and sent Gallinari and future draft picks to the Spurs.

In return, San Antonio secured its “Jrue Holiday-like package” in gaining three first-round picks for Murray as initially reported by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer

The 25-year-old earned his first All-Star selection last season, one in which he averaged 21.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists per game.
