Lakers vs. Mavericks Currently Slated for Christmas Day, per Report

Christmas Day serves as a showcase for the NBA’s top talent, and in 2022, the league’s biggest star LeBron James and the Lakers will take on one of the sport’s top young players during the holiday slate.

Los Angeles is currently slated to play in Dallas against Luka Dončić and the Mavericks on Dec. 25, NBA insider Marc Stein reports.

Stein notes that the schedule has not yet been finalized, and changes are still possible, but the Christmas games “usually hold.” The full NBA schedule is expected to be released next week

James and Dončić were both featured in last year’s Christmas slate on ABC and ESPN. The Lakers hosted Kevin Durant and the Nets for the 8 p.m. ET game, while the Mavericks traveled to the Jazz for the late game that tipped off at 10:30 p.m.

The Mavs had the upper-hand in last year’s three-game set between the two Western Conference teams, winning two of the three games. Dončić did not play in Dallas’s sole loss to L.A. last year, while James was not active for one of the two Lakers losses.

The Mavericks took a step forward in 2021–22, going 52–30 and reaching the Western Conference Finals, while the Lakers stumbled to a disappointing 33–49, 11th place finish.
