Giants Announce Tim Lincecum's Wife, Cristin Coleman, Has Died

The Giants announced Thursday that Cristin Coleman, the wife of former pitcher Tim Lincecum, died earlier this year.

According to the San Mateo Journal, Coleman died of cancer on June 27. San Francisco released a statement regarding Coleman’s death.

“The Giants were extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Tim Lincecum’s wife, Cristin Coleman," the statement read. “Our deepest condolences go out to Tim, Cristin’s family and all those whose lives she touched as a friend and teacher.

“She was beloved by the Giants family and her caring and genuine spirit touched those of us who were fortunate enough to know her during her and Timmy’s years with us.”

Coleman was a principal at an elementary school in the Bay Area. Per the Journal, Coleman’s parents, Randy and Sue, said their daughter “was a beautiful human being who touched so many hearts”, “never expressed fear” and was “deeply sad to be leaving all of us so soon.”

Lincecum, a two-time Cy Young winner, won three World Series (2010, ’12 and ’14) with the Giants. After his time in San Francisco, Lincecum had brief stints with the Angels and the Rangers.
