Celtics-76ers Matchup Opens 2022–23 NBA Season, per Report

The NBA is tapping two of its classic franchises, who just happen to be fierce division rivals, to open the 2022–23 season.

The Celtics and 76ers will tip off the new season on TNT on the evening of Oct. 18, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The news comes on the heels that the defending-champion Warriors will host the Lakers in TNT’s late game that same night.

Boston reached the NBA Finals last season, bowing to Golden State in six games. Philadelphia lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals in six games.

Both Boston and Philadelphia have been linked to the pursuit of Nets superstar Kevin Durant in media reports.

The Celtics and 76ers went 2–2 in four regular-season matchups last season.
